Just saw the news release from NASA: prediction of a glactic collision ~ 5 billion years from now. It should be of interest to us because it predicts the collision between Andromeda galaxy and our own Milkyway. Milkyway is calculated to have 100-400 billion stars. Andromeda is roughly 10 fold bigger than Mikyway with a calculated 1 trillion stars. Its going to be a cosmic firework of the grandest scale! Will there be any one of descendents or evloved forms remain to see this show? In this grand collision what would be the fate of our solar system? earth?
Earth? our beautiful 'blue' planet will no longer be blue. All water on earth surface will be evaporated in next 1 billion years. If we are going to sit on our back criticizing MIB-3 and greed of wall street we dont have to worry about the impact of collision that will happen 4 billion years after our extinction. The world as we see now will be perished by then. A cosmic inevitability we human have very little control over. If any of our descendents survive they would be space travellers, exploring deep space and distant glaxies..... Hopefully some of them will get a chance to see this galctic collision for the vantage point of space.
It has been a while since I have been to my home country, my village. I sometime watch it on google earth. Its a nostalgic feeling. I read about all those places in internet once in a while. While talking to my friends and relatives I hear about lots of changes happening there.... summer getting hotter, monsoon getting weaker, drying up of river Meenachil... change in people's attitute, social structure, inflation.... Some times I dont feel like going back because its going to be a strange place for me. I like to hold on to my cherished memories, I dont want it to get shattered. I feel the same pain now. How will this beautiful planet and its amazing inhabitants look like a billion years from now? Is there hope? I hope so.. Just a hope which is based on faith in human beings creativity and intelligence.
Nice thoughts...keep writing/blogging :-)
