A
week has passed by with nothing to write about? That cannot be true. I must have
missed some important things or my knowledge-sphere was not fine-tuned to
pick-up the important ones. ‘Luck favors the prepared mind’. One need to know a
lot, in terms of both length and breadth, in order to make distant
connections of the data. Cell, Science, and Nature and many of their spin-offs
come out every week with many interesting reports. What to read? How much? It
is overwhelming especially when you are yet to find your niche one question or
area you want to focus on. Right now I am in the mode of ‘focused browsing’.
Reading many things with the hope of finding a good question. An unsettling
feeling obviously. Its almost like the writer desperately searching for and
exciting plot to write a novel after taking full money from the publishers in
advance. I am hungry and anxious. That makes me think that I am in the right
path. The only problem is that too much hands-on experiment is leaving not much
room to read and think.
Another
thing that bothered me last week was the unanswerable question: What is the
deal with faith and God? I am more and more inclined to the concept of
‘whatever makes you feel good’. I have spent enough time arguing about this
subject with various people for the last two decade of my life. I think it is
time for me to accept that it is a pointless discussion. I am comfortable with
the idea of an organizing force that exist in this universe. A force with no
beginning and end. A force, that is not anthropomorphic in appearance and
something that does not really care what you actually do every second of your
life as long as you do not disturb the universe in a significant manner. And a
force that is self correcting and ever evolving. Something I have no idea about
what am I talking about, neither do any one else in this world: A statement I
am very confident to make as of know. I think the people will have a meaningful
life if everyone can find out at least one thing they enjoy doing which also might make this world a
better place or at the least abstain from hurting the
fabrics of the society. I am OK with the ancient philosophy of ‘Aham Brahmasmi’
(loosely translated as, I am the infinite universe), although it neither explain anything nor does help me in making a better decision on how to lead a better life. But it is the gist of everything we know about this universe
and life.
We become part of the universe we create. So, it is like the mobius strip sometimes. The concept of God is just a higher power like you said. But recently I have been thinking of why is it power and not a set of rules. Like Gravity attracts or something similar. It helps in the fact that our conscience is led by what we perceive to be right. But the rules are different. They govern. This is what leads into the concept of ultimate. A set of rules that gives us all choice yet says that your actions will have repercussions. I have always questioned consciousness. We always store information after a filter. That filter is constantly refined by what "we" perceive is useful. I guess meditation removes that filter thereby giving the mind access to unlimited information. I may not know string theory because I dont understand the basics nor do I have an use for it. But if I can store the information, someday I may be able to understand. The one who knows everything is someone who can answer all of someones question. But one cant question about something that one has no knowledge of. So, aham brahmasmi could also mean limitless mind without filters, checks or barriers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. There is no argument about god. All the argument is about what you think a god is. Gravity, entropy, a piece of stone, you, me or anything living/dead. No one has no knowledge about it. As you rightly said 'one cant question about something that one has no knowledge of'. Well the fact is that we have to live with the way we are designed, until medical research come up with a way to fundamentally program and reprogram a human being at the level of its source code. If Filmmixer is SGN lets talk about it later.
