Something that always impress me is the creativity and originality in people. What is the source of creative energy. Is it is in your gene? Is it simply neuronal connectivity? If so, can we do something to be more creative and original? I have explored a few things to improve creativity, such are writing, drawing simple pictures, playing music instrument, mediation, and a few other modalities that has been scientifically suggested to alter default mode network and creativitiy. One think we do not often pay attention is where we feel happy and relaxed at the creative moments or in a state of flow.
I have felt energized after a stimulating conversation, publishing a research work, or giving a good seminar talk, or discussing ideas and philosophies. I only recently started paying attention to what is the nature of that sensation. I generally feel energy in my body. I feel relaxed and feel like calling up people close to me and chatting more. I feel more open and giving at that moment. I sometime fear that, I would be "too" giving (bad habit). How to sustain this state of mind? How to create such state of mind and body to be more happy, present and creative?
I think one should give more attention of body sensations and feeling. We (I) have been paying attention only to mind (brain), that meditation and contemplation, focus and more knowledge are the source of creativity. But when I look around some of the most creative people have always been some of the most physically aware. People who fulfill their physical needs without inhibition or societal judgement. I am currently reading the book "When we cease to understand the world". It is biographies (partly fictionalized, I guess) of some of the most creative scientists the world has ever seen. Whatever I read so far in the book provoked this thought. Creative forces are the culmination of both physical and mental state.
