Many years ago I watched documentary, Cosmic Voyage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQGz76_1feY). It was about universe, its size relative to that of our (human) own. That documentary show the the views if one were to take steps from a point in earth with each step 10 times bigger than the previos one (1 meter, 10 meter, 100 meter etc...). By 13th step we would see the entire solar system, by 23rd step what would be seeing is collections of galaxies.....
Last week NASA released some of the initial pictures released by James Webb telescope, According to one scientist, what is captured in the image is about the size of a grain of sand held at arms distance, compared to the total size of visible universe. We knew this, we knew the universe was big. But when I saw the image for the first time, all I could do was just look at this picture with a blank mind, with amazement, humility, and joy. Looking at this picture give me an immense sense of calm, I do not know why. Just think for second, this single grain of sand in the visible universe has hundreds of galaxies. Each of these galaxies are composed of billions (yes, Billions) of stars. Tens of billions of planets. So how many stars and planets are there in the entire universe? The biggest number I can comprehend is a billion. My sense of size is saturated by this tiny picture. I am out of words to say the number of possible stars in the entire visible universe. And that is all we could see. What lies beyond? From this tiny planet in the corner of a universe, when I write this, all I can feel is bewilderment, amazement, happiness and gratitude and all the good feelings. Oh, Gods, all the mighty powers in the universe, what is my true place in this universe? Why anything exist?
