How far can AI go at a personal level? Currently, if I set my GPS to go to a certain location a couple of times at a specific time of the week, the next week, AI would prompt me with driving instructions to that location precisely at that time. It gives me targeted ads and suggests the music I might like and products I might be interested in. It is simply by understanding browsing patterns and mobility. it is easy to imagine where it can give me suggestions on the food I might like or would be suitable for me based on my food shopping history, blood profiles, and other vitals (if I give access to them). It can do so many such services. What else? Will it help me to communicate efficiently with others?
For example, if I give the name and details of the person I am going to meet, can it search online to find all the information and curate the details such as likes, dislikes, political views, cultural background, etc? It will be possible if the other person opens up their profiles (in social media) or if they are famous or publish views publically. If I give access to my brain activities, I can make the AI even detect my subliminal thoughts and emotions, such as my response when I see someone or hear something, etc... (well, I will have to link this to wearables such as smart goggles or earpods). How much more? Well, now I have given almost complete access to my deeper thoughts, biases, and vitals; what more is needed to transform our society into something depicted in the movie Her? A news piece in the NYT regarding a woman falling in love with a chatbot got me thinking about this. We are moving into an era of deep transformations in both our body and mind. What is the limit ? As someone said, do we need a physical body once we upload all our minds to the cloud? Do we live forever, as long as the cloud stays alive? Humanity will reach singularity. It sounds like one hell of a psychedelic trip. How much should we allow it to happen? How far are we willing to go?
