The Key Factor

I am learning everyday that the first thing you need to be a successful scientist is specialization. A unique (relatively) niche that your peers identify you with. A field or research you have made some seminal contributions. I am still searching for it. It is unfortunate that I do not have one yet. But I am happy about the opportunity to choose one by my own in a broad spectrum of research.
I realize that it is a stressful experience. The most important thing is to find an important and interesting problem to work on. I have some ideas, which I need to evolve to a mature one. The big question is how different cell types in our body establish and maintain its unique genetic and morphological identity. It is a broad question. There are lots of factors influencing it. I need to come up with a more precise and tractable questions.

I hope that it is only a matter of time. Failing even after one make a sincere effort to succeed and exhaust all possibilities is a success by itself. I know the blogs in the last few weeks and made up just to keep my New Year resolution alive. It tells me that I am still a novice in converting many thoughts into words in an efficient manner. Or I am not having enough quality thoughts and philosophies that are worth noting down at the end of the weeks. Both of it call for an area I should work on.
