Black Friday, Cyber Monday so many ways to empty pocket. But, a deal today really caught my attention, whole genome sequencing for $199.00. It is amazing because about 20 years back same procedure would cause ~ $3 billion. I agree, the human genome sequencing effort involved a lot of other expenses since they had to develop the platform and other infrastructure which we take for granted. One of the popular slides in genomic research talks are the dramatic reduction in sequencing cost, that beat the prediction based on famous Moore's law.
Genome sequencing has become such a cheap enterprise. What is next? What more information can we get from it. This company provides not only the data in BAM/FASTQ files, but also basic digestible analysis for common people with actionable suggestions. Guess who jumped on to grab the offer.
